4回に分けて書いてきた「Lang-8」の総まとめシリーズも、今回で最終回です。
前回までのまとめは、こちら。
今回は、これまで何度も間違えてしまったフレーズをおさらいし、また、覚えておくと便利な役立ちフレーズを紹介したいと思います。
よく間違えるフレーズ
～に慣れている
何度も間違えてしまいます。全然慣れてないですね。。
～に慣れている ： be used to V-ing
まだ英語で文章を書くのに慣れていないので、英語の記事を書くのに苦労します。
I still have some difficulty when I write them because I don't get used to writing in English.

春夏秋冬には冠詞を付けない
蝉の鳴く声が聞こえてきて、夏が始まったなと感じました。

ただし、season には冠詞を付けても問題ないようです。
季節の変わり目は風邪を引きやすいので、身体に気を付けないといけません。
People tend to get colds just when the seasons change, so we have to watch out for ourselves.
科目には冠詞を付けない
世界史 (world history) などのいわゆる「科目」には冠詞は付けません。
世界史を独学で勉強することに興味があります。
I'm interested in studying the world history by myself.

システムエンジニア
「system engineer」でなくて「systems engineer」です。何だか違和感がありますが、覚えるしかありませんね。
システムエンジニア ： systems engineer
私はIT業界でシステムエンジニアとして長いキャリアがあります。

乗り物
「乗る」には「take」、「～の中に」は「on」を使います。
神戸をエンジョイした後、新幹線に乗って東京に帰りました。

今、友人の結婚式に参加するために、大阪行きの新幹線に乗っています。

cost の過去形は costed でなくて cost
加えて、対面式の英会話スクールよりもずっと費用が安かったのです。

次に、覚えておくと便利な、オリジナルの役立ちフレーズ集です。
ハマる ： get into
冗談半分に読み始めたのですが、ストーリーが本当に面白くてハマってしまいました。
I started reading it just for fun, but I got deeply into it because the story was really interesting.
花見をする ： view cherry blossoms
妻や友人達と花見ができる4月上旬が待ちきれません。
I just can't wait to view the cherry blossoms with my wife and buddies in early April.
～でストレスが溜まる ： be stressed out by/from ～
仕事でストレスが溜まると、時々マッサージを受けに行きます。
I sometimes go to get a massage when I am stressed out by/from my work.
延期する ： put off
今日は代官山に散歩に行こうと思っていたのですが、雨のために延期しました。
I wanted to walk around Daikan-yama today, but I put it off it because of the rain.
日本語吹き替え版 ： in the translated Japanese version
日本語吹き替え版ではなく、英語版で観てみました。
I tried watching in English, not in the translated Japanese version.
してよかった ： Good thing ～
旅行前のギリギリに英語のレッスンを受けていて正解でした。
Good thing I had last-minute English lessons before going on the trip.
デートスポット ： a place to hang out
代官山は東京の格好のデートスポットで、ブティックや雑貨屋、カフェなどがたくさんあります。
Daikan-yama is a nice place to hang out in Tokyo and there are many boutiques, grocery stores, cafes, and so on.
最高気温 ： high
東京は最高気温が約10度でした。
The high was about ten degrees in Tokyo.
～とは関係のない ： be unrelated to / be separate from
それらは自分自身の勉強のためで、仕事とは関係がありません。
These are just for my study, which is unrelated to my work.
半額で ： for half off
それらは半額で売られていました。
They were on sale for half off.
～の半分ほど ： about half of ～
半分ほど読み終わったのですが、ゴールはまだまだ遠いです。
I've read about half of it, so my goal is still far yet.
半々の可能性 ： a 50/50 chance
テストの勉強しているのですが、合格する可能性は半々だと思います。
I'm studying for a test. I think I have a 50/50 chance of passing it.
半分以下の人 ： fewer than half the population
個人体な感覚ですが、日本では、家の中にクリスマスツリーを飾るのは半数以下です。

That's because I've been (badly) lacking exercise.
体を鍛える ： get in shape
ジョギングを始めましたが、日課にするのはつらいですね。まずは体を鍛えないと。
I'm trying to start jogging, but it's tough to get a routine going. I need to get in shape first.
気合を入れる ： raise one's spirits
気合を入れるために、毎朝一本、仕事の前にレッド・ブルを飲んでいます。
I drink a Red Bull every morning before work in order to raise my spirits.
結局〜になる ： turn out
2回やってみたが、ダメでした。
I tried two times, but it did not turn out very well.
ジョギング中に ： while out jogging
今日、ジョギング中に第23回参議院議員選挙に投票に行ってきました。

ミシュラン一つ星 ： a one-star rating in the Michelin Guide
そのレストランはミシュラン一つ星を獲得していて、当然ながら、食事や雰囲気はとても素晴らしかった。
That restaurant has a one-star rating in the Michelin Guide and, of course, its food and atmosphere were very nice.
困った時は ： when I have problems
困ったときは、よくハウツー・サイトで解決方法を探します。
I often search for solutions on how-to sites when I have problems.
使い捨ての ： expendable
残念ながら、そういった機器は短命で使い捨てに作られています。
Unfortunately, these devices are designed to be short-lived and expendable.
～と比べたときに： when compared with 〜
埼玉は東京と比べると、より田舎です。
Saitama is more like countryside when compared with Tokyo.
体に気を付ける ： watch out for oneself
季節の変わり目は風邪を引きやすいので、身体に気を付けないといけません。

～と同い年 ： be the same age as ～ be
彼と同い歳なので、彼を誇りに思います。

思い付く ： realize

人付き合いを避ける、自分の殻に閉じこもる ： keep to oneself
正直なところ、私は知らない人とは楽しんで会話できず、そういった状況では自分の殻に閉じこもってしまいがちなのです。
To be honest, I don't enjoy having a conversation with a stranger, and I tend to keep to myself in such a situation.
映画館で ： at a cinema / at a movie theater
明日、映画館で「グランド・イリュージョン」を観に行く予定です。
I'm going to see the "Now You See Me" movie at a cinema tomorrow.
大いしたことではない ： it doesn't really matter
大したことではないけど。
It doesn't really matter, though.
たぶん～だからです ： it may be because ～
たぶん "Now You See Me" は、慣用的な "Now you see me, now you don't"（ハイ、消えますよという意味）という長いフレーズの断片だからです。
It may be because "Now You See Me" is just a fragment of a longer, idiomatic phrase "Now you see me, now you don't" (Meaning "I will disappear now").
寡黙な人 ： a man of few words
彼が寡黙な人ということは知っていたので、もしかしたら彼は内心喜んでいたのかもしれません。
I knew he was a man of few words, so maybe he felt happy in his heart.
前職は～だった ： be formerly ～
花嫁の前職はウェディング・プランナーだったので、その結婚式はとても凝っていた。
The bride was formerly a wedding planner, so the wedding party was very elaborate.
～年間放ったらかし ： be left unused for ～ years
それは妻から借りたのですが、5年間も放ったらかしだったとのことです。
It was borrowed from my wife, and she said that it was left unused for five years.
打ち合わせを成功させる ： make a meeting successful
打ち合わせが成功するよう、英会話スキルを伸ばそうと努力しているところです。
I'm trying to improve conversing in English to make the meeting successful.
～を考慮に入れる ： take ～ into account
観客の年齢や興味も考慮に入れた方がいいかもしれません。
You may also take the audience age or interests into account.
急に寒くなる ： it get cold quickly
最近急に寒くなったからなのかもしれません。
It might be because it got cold quickly these recent days.
〜を振り返ってみると ： when looking back ～
私のブログを振り返ってみると、今年は 59のエントリーを投稿していました。
When looking back at my blog, I noticed I posted 59 entries this year.
うまく行かない ： things aren't going so well
うまく行かないなぁ。

ずっと空いている ： much more empty
朝早い時間の方がずっと空いているので、私はいつも仕事に行く前にレッスンを受けていました。

実話に基づいている ： be based on a true story
驚いたことに、実話に基づいたストーリーだそうです。

～の要望で ： at one's request
妻の要望で、私たちは家の近くの焼肉店に行きました。
At my wife's request, we went to the yakiniku restaurant near my house.
