簡単に SQLite について説明すると、
という特徴のある、中小規模向きの軽量RDBMS です。
プログラムからは MySQL と同じように利用することができますし、コマンドラインツール「sqlite3」を使って直接データベースを操作することができます。
sqlite3 は、Ubuntu の場合は「apt-get」でインストールすることができます。
$ sudo apt-get -y install sqlite3 $ sqlite3 --version 3.7.9 2011-11-01 00:52:41 c7c6050ef060877ebe77b41d959e9df13f8c9b5e
SQLite のデータベースファイルを指定して起動します。
（データベースファイルが存在しない場合は、新規に作成されます。）
$ sqlite3 /opt/webapps/mysite/db.sqlite3
基本形
コマンドラインツールで使える基本コマンドです。
「.」を先頭に付けるのが他の DBMS には無い感じなので、少し違和感ありますね。
# データベース一覧を表示（といっても単一ファイル単一データベースですが） sqlite> .databases # テーブル一覧を表示 sqlite> .tables # コマンドラインツールを終了 sqlite> .quit
「.help」でヘルプを見ると、コマンドがいろいろ書いてあります。

基本的に、MySQL と使い方は同じなのですが、デフォルトだと結果表示がショボいので少し設定をいじります。
